5 IDEAS FOR A COZY SITTING AREA
Raise your hand if you have a “me time” space in your home. A small, cozy retreat to help you reset at the end of a busy day. A dedicated place for reading, quiet conversations or to enjoy a cup of tea or a glass of wine. If you didn’t raise your hand, it’s time to consider creating a sitting area in your home.
We’re huge fans of sitting areas and love creating them in our clients’ homes. Whether clients have large primary bedrooms with extra space, smaller rooms with an unused corner or even a large, beautiful window that’s perfect for a built-in bench, we’ve transformed underutilized spaces into areas for peaceful, indulgent, daily escapes.
As you start dreaming about what your “me time” space looks like, we’ve collected 5 sitting area ideas for you to consider.
1.) SWIVEL CHAIRS:
We love the versatility of swivel chairs, especially in sitting areas. They’re perfect for changing up your view, whether it’s looking out the window at the birds, turning to enjoy the fireplace, or for having an intimate conversation with your special someone.

2.) SEASONAL PILLOWS:
Pillows add a stylish pop to sitting areas. And you can change your pillows with the seasons to give your space a regular refresh. You can go light and bright with colors and coverings in the spring (think linens and cotton) and cozy and warm in the winter (velvets and chunky knits). Once you’ve purchased the pillow insert, you can easily swap out the cover to change the mood. And don’t forget a tailored bench cushion to make your space even more inviting.
3.) DECORATIVE TRAYS:
We use trays in every project. Stylish, functional and visually interesting, trays make everything look neat and tidy and help spaces feel finished. For sitting areas, they also create a safe, flat place for a beverage. And trays are perfect for treating yourself to a well-deserved Sunday morning breakfast in your peaceful sitting area.
