NEW YEAR, NEW PLAN

Mark and I spent last weekend on the Eastern Shore at our annual business retreat planning all the exciting things we want to accomplish in 2022. (BTW–it’s a long list.) Getting away from our day-to-day routine and spending dedicated time helps us focus and find the headspace for planning–while still finding time for oysters, crab cakes and local craft beer or two. You know what they say about all work and no play!

Trying to find that perfect work-life balance is a goal I’m sure we all share. Everyone has the work part down, that’s for sure, but how about the life side? Are you finding the time to nurture your personal passions, pursuits, and interests? Does your living space reflect these passions? That pesky work side seems to have a way of bumping plans for home improvements. We help you change that. And now my stylish friends is the time to start.

But you might ask “what about the supply chain problems, labor shortages and all the pandemic-related issues impacting the home furnishing industry?” Those issues are all true and unfortunately, they’re not going away anytime soon. Home projects are still moving full steam ahead, they’re just taking longer to complete. The important thing is to reserve your place in the queue by starting the design process, getting on your contractor’s list and placing your orders now.

We recently helped a lovely long-time client realize her dream kitchen–construction and all–during the pandemic. It took time, patience, and expertise but it was all worth it. She now has the perfect space for trying the latest recipe from Bon Appetit with her husband or for pulling up a stool and sharing a glass of wine with a close friend.

1.) Make Informed Decisions:

Through constant contact with our vendors and direct access to the production facilities, we have the latest information on changing lead times. This inside scoop allows us to select materials for your project that are more likely to arrive in a timely manner. For this kitchen project we worked with our vendor reps to identify the perfect stools that would arrive within the construction schedule. And when a manufacturing curveball was thrown our way with the faux leather selected for the stools, we were able to quickly swap it out and stay on schedule.

2.) Leverage Long-Term Relationships:

With nearly 15 years of experience, we have built long-term relationships with our vendors and trades. Our commitment to our suppliers and industry partners–in good times and in challenging times–shows how everyone works as one big team to get things done. Our relationships help us stay in the know, leverage the occasional favor and keep the project moving. For the kitchen project, we worked with our contractor to creatively solve an appliance delay with the cooktop. The contractor was able to retrofit the old cooktop within the new setting so the client would have a functional stove while the new appliance shipped.

3.) Adapt Processes to Stay Nimble:

When the inevitable problems arise with a project, we manage them strategically and efficiently. If we need to reselect an item or change course, we find a solution. If there's a creative way to have an item shipped sooner, our amazing expeditor Elise will find it. We have a dedicated team and have adapted our processes during these rapidly changing times to continue to deliver an exceptional experience for our clients.

Carpe diem, my stylish friends! Let’s work together to make the home change you’ve been dreaming of today. Complete our brief Design Survey and we’ll schedule complimentary free Discovery Call today. We’d love to speak with you.

CAMBRIDGE, MARYLAND - Just two hours from Washington, DC.

Where to stay: Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Beautiful views, great amenities and cozy & comfortable rooms and lounge spaces.

Where to grab a beer: RAR Brewing Exceptional local craft beer brewed in a funky, artsy setting. I recommend their Nanticoke Nectar IPA.

Where to see the wildlife: Blackwater Wildlife Refuge offers a spectacular spot for birdwatching (we saw a bald eagle and a screech owl!) right on the edge of the local tidal wetlands. Great place for a bike ride, stroll or drive.
