HOME LOVE IN THE TIME OF COVID

Holy cow, it feels like there are so many things out of our control these days. It can drive you totally bonkers if you let it. Well, let’s not let it! One way to reduce that feeling of being overwhelmed is by taking back something that’s completely within your control–your living space.

I know my anxiety goes way down when I feel a sense of harmony with my environment (maybe that’s why I love designing interiors). And here’s the good news: Updating your home, even with all of the Covid-related disruptions, is absolutely do-able.

We started offering remote design and decorating back in March and I’ve been amazed at how quickly it became second nature for both us and our clients. We’re currently helping several families improve their homes (and maintain their sanity) through a mix of remote and in-person design services.

One special project we’re currently working on is for a family who was in the process of moving from the Netherlands back to the DC area when they contacted us from Europe. We were so flattered that they put their full trust and confidence in Arlington Home Interiors to create a perfect space for their family without even officially meeting us!

From color selections, to space planning to window treatments to furnishings & accessories for every room, they’ve counted on us to take the stress out of the zillion design decisions they would have had to make on their own. It allowed them to focus on their three children, their work responsibilities and their big move back to the U.S.

All of the design concepts for this project were presented via Zoom, so we could get (and see) their reactions in real time! When we needed to get their approval for samples of fabrics and finishes, we simply mailed the items so they could touch and see them first-hand.

Our clients gave us access to their new DC area home and were able supervise trade work (e.g. the installation of wallpaper, carpeting and window treatments) and construction activities like updating their kitchen and master bedroom before they arrived.

This project has been a real adventure in adapting with the times! We met our clients last month for the first time and we’re steadily moving along with their home transformation!  Things are looking amazing. We hope to photograph the project and share it with you soon.
